Jason - Multi-Trade Builder
Jason’s Journey as a Multi-Trade Builder
Q: Tell us a bit about your role and why you joined Stiltz
I’ve worked as a Multi-Trade Builder for the last seven years, helping prepare customers’ homes for homelift installations. Before joining, I was self-employed, so moving into a role that still gave me hands-on experience but with more stability and work-life balance really appealed to me.
The role also suits me because no two jobs are ever the same and there’s always something new to get stuck into.
Q: What does a typical day look like for you?
Every property is different, which means every day feels different too. As I’ve briefly touched on, a big part of my role involves helping to get homes ready for homelift installations. It’s important to make sure everything is completed safely, neatly and to a high standard.
That can involve everything from structural carpentry, plastering, stud wall work, floor adaptations and general building work. Another part of the job is problem-solving and finding the best way to make the lift fit seamlessly into the home while keeping disruption to a minimum.
It’s rewarding knowing the work we do helps make homes safer, more accessible and easier to move around in.
Q: What have you enjoyed most or learned along the way?
Meeting customers and seeing the difference the lift makes to their everyday lives is one of the best parts of the role. Seeing someone’s reaction once everything is complete makes all the hard work worthwhile.
Over the years I’ve also learned a lot myself. I’ve had opportunities to keep developing new skills, grow in confidence and take on additional responsibilities, including becoming a Mental Health First Aider to support colleagues when needed.
Q: What stands out about working at Stiltz?
Definitely the people and the support from colleagues. There’s a strong team spirit and everyone encourages each other to keep learning and progressing.
For me personally, the role has also given me a much better work-life balance while still allowing me to do rewarding hands-on work, which has been really important for me and my family.
Q: What advice would you give to someone considering a similar role?
If you enjoy practical work, are willing to learn and enjoy solving problems, I’d definitely recommend a similar role with Stiltz. It’s rewarding work and there are plenty of opportunities to build skills and develop a long-term career.
