Giving Back: How Stiltz Supports Staff with a Volunteer Day
Stiltz Homelifts is proud of the difference our products make in people’s lives. But it’s not just about what we do in customers’ homes. We also care about the communities we’re part of, and we want our team to feel connected to those communities too.
That’s why every employee at Stiltz is offered a Volunteer Day – a paid day to spend time helping a local cause or charity that matters to them. Whether it’s lending a hand at a community centre, supporting a local food bank, helping at a school or getting involved in environmental projects, we know that small actions can have a big impact.
We offer this day because we value the personal growth, sense of purpose, and wellbeing that come from helping others. It’s also a great way to connect with our local communities and share new experiences.
Here are just a few examples of how our team members have used their Volunteer Day so far:
“Over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend (and using the following Tuesday as my Volunteer Day), I joined a crew of volunteers, including a few friends, at the West Midlands District Camping Centre in Dyffryn, Wales.
We tore down and cut up old structures, removed a concrete pad to make way for a new storage area, pitched tents for the season, and burned scrap wood in a bonfire.
I loved giving back to a place that delivers fantastic experiences year after year. I’ll definitely be back to help out whenever I can.”
Alex Hartshorne, Engineering Technician Apprentice

“My old teacher in Romania, who now runs the school’s robotics programme, got in touch to show me the amazing work his students were doing. I provided them with some technical advice over the phone, and after reviewing their results, I bought some components to help with their projects and visited to offer support.
What started as a one-day visit turned into three (with the additional two days being taken as annual leave) where I shared my experience, gave career advice, and helped with their prototypes.
The headteacher even joined in and told me I was the first ex-student to come back and do something like this, which was a proud moment for me. It reminded me how important it is to give back and support the next generation.”
